In a new promotion, Jack's Pub is promising to pay for customers' drink tabs if the Jets lose this season.

A Brady Street bar says it will pay for customers' drinks anytime the New York Jets lose a game this season.

Jack's American Pub announced the new promotion as a way to get more customers into the bar during games when the Packers aren't playing.

"We didn't expect it to have the traction that it's having, but we're excited about it," said Ryan Cooke, director of operations for Heard Hospitality, which owns Jack's. "So, if you are in the bar 15 minutes with the tab open before the start of the game and the Jets lose, we will pay for your drink tab."

Cooke said there are some stipulations. Aaron Rodgers needs to be starting the game. Also, the deal does not cover top-shelf alcohol or apply to games when the Packers and Jets are playing at the same time.

That leaves 13 regular-season games and thousands of dollars in alcohol on the table.

While Cooke is sure Jack's will have to pay up at some point this season, he's confident enough in the Jets roster to believe they won't lose very often.

"It's going to be rough, but that's the nature of a bet. That's the risk, but we're pretty confident it's going to shake out," Cooke said.

Jack's sister restaurant at the Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls is doing a similar promotion. Every time Rodgers fumbles or throws an interception, the bar will give out free drinks. It's already printed the former Packers quarterback's face on drink tokens for the event.

"Some people think we're being mean-spirited about it. That's not the intention at all," Cooke said. "We just thought that would be a good market for people who want to watch some former Packers players playing for the other team."

When Rodgers left the Packers, two wide receivers left with him: Alan Lazard and Randall Cobb. All three play for the Jets now.

When asked what he' like to say to Rodgers, if the quarterback sees the promotion, Cooke said, "It's nothing but love. We're just trying to have fun trying to actually get some more excitement for the Jets around here."

The first Jets game is Sept. 11.
